What to Expect

What are our church services and music like?

Getting to Know Each Other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at First Christian Church of Malvern a great one!

What's the culture like at FCCM?

Sundays at First Christian Church of Malvern are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

How long is an FCCM church service and what's the flow?

In total, an FCCM service is about 60 minutes in length. Services begin with the band leading the church in music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, our lead minister will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message. Following the message is invitation, communion, and offering. Guests are not expected to participate in the offering but can if desired. After offering there may be announcements or a closing song.

After service, you can head to the kitchen to grab a coffee or a hot tea and make your way to a Sunday school class.

What kind of music can I expect?

First Christian Church of Malvern offers three services with two different styles of music.

The 8:30 service is our Heritage Service and offers traditional hymns and songs with simple arrangements. These songs are played on a piano keyboard and sometimes accompanied by acoustic guitars or flutes.

The 10:00 and 11:30 services are our Connection services. The content is identical in these services; just choose the time convenient for you. The songs in these services are generally more up-beat and modern. The songs are sung accompanied by a full band that includes keys, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, etc.

Our choir sings during all three services about once a month.

What about my kids?

We believe that kids should love coming to church and learning about the Bible, God, and Jesus each week - and at FCCM, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our children and student program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in the first time. After the first time, check-in will be very quick. Programs are offered at every FCCM service for kids ages infant through Grade 12.

For more information, see our visiting with children page.
